welcome to the eu law blog

This is Caroline Bradley’s weblog for the Spring 2006 class in European Community/EU law at the University of Miami Law School. The materials for this class are available at the Law School’s Distribution Center.

Before the first class please obtain the first set of materials and read the first 5 pages. Read Articles 2 and 3 of the EC Treaty carefully. Don’t worry if the terminology seems strange at first. You will get used to it.

1. Introduction to the EU (the first packet of materials)
2. Food Supplements Directive Case Study
i. Legislative Powers of the EU and its Institutions
ii. Challenging EU acts in EU and National Courts
iii. Free Movement of Goods
3. Services, Establishment: Lawyering Across Borders
4. Classic Cases
5. Equality Law
i. European Community Law as a Source of Individual Rights
ii. Features of EC equality law
